One day trip from Copenhagen: Kronborg castle
It seems that Denmark is full of surprises for me :) I had no idea that here are so many beautiful castles to visit! Luck me, many of them are really close to Copenhagen, so they make a perfect one day trip. Today is about Kronborg, the castle that Shakespeare set Hamlet in! In Hamlet, Shakespeare called Kronborg Castle Elsinore. This has become the English name for Helsingør, the town where you can visit Kronborg (just 40 minutes by train, north of Copenhagen).
The castle is truly beautiful and it definitely worths a visit! What I love most are the underground casemates, the passages that have protected soldiers from enemies. Inside the casemates it is dark, scary (I mean really scary), gloomy, cold and damp. It's an experience you don't want to miss, believe me!
Have a nice trip!
